Guided Imagery
Guided imagery is a relaxation technique that focuses your attention on pleasant images to replace negative or stressful feelings and relax. Guided imagery may be directed by you or a practitioner through storytelling or descriptions designed to suggest mental images (also called visualization). -
Reiki
Reiki is a healing practice that originated in Japan. Reiki practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above the person receiving treatment, with the goal of facilitating the person’s own healing response. Reiki is based on the idea that there is a universal (or source) energy that supports the body’s innate healing abilities. Practitioners seek to access this energy, allowing it to flow to the body and facilitate healing. -
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the art & science of using the natural extracts from plants, known as essential oils, to help mobilize the body’s own healing properties. It can be useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, and depression. -
Care Partner Program
Griffin Hospital’s Care Partner program allows family and friends to become part of your care-giving team during hospitalization and/or after discharge. -
Healing Garden
A meditation garden is available for the enjoyment of you and your guests. The garden offers a private, quiet space for meditation or relaxation.The meditation garden is located in front of the hospital just outside of the Childbirth Center entrance.
For the health and safety of you and those around you, smoking is not permitted in the meditation garden or anywhere on hospital grounds.

Health Resource Centers
Our Community Health Resource Center is a free lending-library of consumer-level health and lifestyle materials to our patients, visitors, and community members. Computers with Internet access are also available. Satellite resource centers are located on patient floors and in the Center for Cancer Care. -
Open Medical Record
All patients have unrestricted access to their medical records. We encourage you to take an active role in your care and treatment by reading and contributing your own notes to your medical record. -
Patient Care Conference
A patient care conference is a meeting between you, your doctor, and your primary care nurse to discuss your care in the hospital and to plan your discharge, including any preparations that may be required. -
Patient Education Packet
Patients at Griffin Hospital are provided with a customized patient education packet with information about their specific diagnosis or procedure. -
Spiritual Care
Our interfaith chapel is located on the first floor of the hospital’s East wing. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, daily. The chapel is always open for prayer and meditation. Spiritual services and meditations are scheduled regularly and individual contact with patients and family members is available upon request. -
Soft Touch
Touch reduces anxiety, pain, stress and benefiting patients, families and staff members. Griffin Hospital’s trained volunteers and licensed massage therapists are at the service of patients, family members and co-workers to provide ‘soft touch’ hand and foot massages to help you relax. -
Therapy Dog Visitation
A therapy dog is a dog trained to provide affection and comfort to our patients and their families. Animal companionship has been known to have a therapeutic effect for many people, such as relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, and raising spirits.Therapy dogs come in all sizes and breeds. All Griffin Hospital therapy dogs are registered and insured through a therapy dog organization. Each dog must pass a rigorous behavior and medical screening prior to entry to our program.

Unrestricted Visiting Hours
Unrestricted visiting hours allow family and friends to visit whenever and for as long as you’d like. Arrangements can be made for overnight stays upon request.
