The Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Program at Griffin Hospital was established to address urinary and fecal incontinence, constipation and pain issues in both women and men.
Incontinence
The incontinence program is for individuals with:
- Pre-operative education and strengthening
- Post-surgical management
- Stress incontinence
- Urge incontinence
- Mixed incontinence
- Over-active bladder
- Mild cystocele
- Rectocele
- Uterine prolapsed
- Fecal incontinence
Pelvic Pain / Pelvic Floor Tension
The pelvic pain / pelvic floor tension program is for individuals with:
- Post-surgical pain
- Scar-tissue
- Interstitial cystitis
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Endometriosis
- Constipation
- Coccyxodynia
- Dyspareunia
- Levator ani syndrome
- Vaginismus
- Vulvodynia
- Vestibulitis
- Painful episiotomy
What to Expect During Your Appointment
A trained physical therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation and develop and individualized treatment program for each patient and their diagnosis including:
- Home program
- Therapeutic exercise
- Training in bladder or bowel control
- Use of modalities such as biofeedback, functional electrode stimulation, thermotherapy or cryotherapy
- Manual therapy
- Assessment of pelvic asymmetry
