Balance & Fall Prevention
We can help you improve your balance and avoid falls.
Falls are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in those over the age of 65 and are the leading cause of death from injury in this age group. The risk and incidence of falls increases with age. When serious, falls can result in hip, pelvic, and other fractures, as well as numerous soft tissue injuries. Even a minor fall can be devastating. It can lead to fear of falling, causing decreased confidence in a person’s ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), social isolation, and increased dependence on others.
Those at risk for falling include:
Elderly persons, specifically those with symptoms of:
- Dizziness
- Generalized weakness
- Postural abnormalities
- Difficulty walking
Patients with neurological disorders:
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- TBI
- Stroke
