Griffin Health recently honored more than 800 employees and physicians who reached service milestones of 5 years and more, and announced the 2024 Employee of the Year and Department of the Year award winner at its 52nd Annual Service Awards Dinner at Aria in Prospect.
At an interactive masquerade murder mystery themed celebration, Griffin Hospital President and CEO Patrick Charmel personally presented gifts of appreciation to longtime employees and announced that Griffin Hospital Emergency Department Patient Safety Monitor Syreta Guest, as the 2024 Employee of the Year and The Comprehensive Wound Healing Center/Hyperbaric Medicine as the 2024 Department of the Year.
Guest Named Top Caregiver
A caregiver for nearly 10 years at Griffin Hospital, Guest has been an outstanding member of the Emergency Department (ED), providing support to some of Griffin’s most vulnerable patients with compassion, dignity, and humanity.
“Patients who are traumatized, deeply depressed, injured, or critically ill receive a kindhearted and caring ear from Syreta as she comforts these patients in the ED,” Charmel said of Guest at the celebration. “Her deep connection with patients and dedication to Griffin make her more than deserving of Employee of the Year.”
Griffin’s Employee of the Year selection come from its monthly I Take It Personally (ITIP) Award program where employees are nominated by their colleagues. Each month, up to four Griffin Health caregivers are selected for their efforts to improve patient satisfaction and promote Griffin’s commitment to patient-centered care. Of these ITIP winners, four are selected as finalists for the honor of Employee of the Year.
The Center for Comprehensive Wound Healing Named Departments of the Year
The Center for Comprehensive Wound Healing at Griffin Hospital/Hyperbaric Medicine was honored with Department of the Year for excelling in patient outcomes and satisfaction.
“The Center’s high achievement this year is evident,” Charmel said. “They’ve slashed the wait time for new patients by a staggering 80%, and this focus on efficiency hasn’t come at the expense of results. Patient wound-healing rates are soaring, exceeding the industry benchmark of 79% by a significant margin, for a comprehensive healing rate of 91.6%!”
Wound center visits and hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments have both increased significantly with many new patients coming from throughout the region. Despite this growth, the Center’s caregivers have maintained efficiency and reduced the patient care cost per encounter. The Center’s achievements were recently recognized with the prestigious Healogics Center of Distinction Award for excelling in a number of demanding performance indicators.
The Department of the Year is selected from the four hospital departments selected as “Department of the Quarter” by the ITIP program.
