Mediterranean Meal Plan Recipes for Heart Health

Learn about the heart health benefits of the Mediterranean diet and attend an in person cooking class demonstration and tasting of Greek style vegetables and Tuscan pasta with legumes. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

The Mediterranean diet refers on the traditional eating habits in the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. A Mediterranean-style meal plan can help individuals achieve a healthy eating lifestyle that:

  • Emphasizes increased consumption of plant foods, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts and legumes.
  • Includes extra virgin olive oil as the primary source of fat used in cooking.
  • Includes fish and lean poultry while reducing red meat consumption.
  • Avoids sugary beverages and limits processed foods and refined grains.

This style of eating can help reduce the risk of heart disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, depression, and some cancers.
