Breaking the Chains of Substance Use: An Evening of Hope and Healing with Judy Mandel

The Community Health Resource Center at Griffin Hospital will explore the struggles and successes of substance use disorders with a free event featuring a reading by New York Times Bestselling Author Judy Mandel, of Newington, on Wed., July 24 at 6 p.m.

This sincere and heartfelt event features an exploration of addiction, family dynamics, and the strains in helping a loved one towards recovery and healing. Mandel will read a selection from her memoir, White Flag, about her family’s poignant story of battling addiction and finding hope amidst the struggle.

The reading will be followed by a panel discussion with a Griffin Health Behavioral Health expert about the psychological impact of substance use on individuals and families and the strategies for building resilience and emotional well-being, and a substance recovery specialist about the services and support systems available for those struggling with addiction, effective treatment plans and the importance of community and family support in the recovery process.

Attendees will receive a free copy of White Flag.

Seating is limited and registration is required. Register below or contact the Community Health Resource Center at griflib@griffinhealth.org or 203-732-7399.

The event is finished.
