The Community Health Resource Center at Griffin Hospital will celebrate the indomitable human spirit and the limitless possibilities of resilience with a free event featuring a reading by acclaimed Connecticut author Barbara Rubin on Wed., May 15 at 6 p.m.
This special event features powerful storytelling, insightful discussion, and invaluable wisdom on navigating life’s challenges. Rubin will read a selection from her memoir, More Than You Can See, which reflects her poignant journey of resilience and the transformative power of hope as she came to terms with her daughter’s traumatic brain injury that left her unable to communicate with others, and how Rubin helped her to reenter the world.
The reading will be followed by a panel discussion with Griffin Health’s physical therapy and psychiatry specialists about how rehabilitation and trauma therapy and counseling helps individuals overcome physical and mental limitations, and about innovative techniques and personalized strategies that can enhance mobility, regain confidence and restore independence. Rubin will also speak about the integration of physical, emotional, and social support systems in the rehabilitation process, inviting attendees to explore the importance of fostering resilience and embracing life’s challenges with courage and determination.
Seating is limited and registration is required. To sign up, visit Resilience and Recovery | Griffin Health or contact the Community Health Resource Center at griflib@griffinhealth.org or 203-732-7399.
