The Griffin Hospital Dining Room
Our beautiful main dining room offers you and your guests a specious outside courtyard during spring and summer seasons and a cozy indoor fireplace during the fall and winter months. All are located on the ground floor of the hospital. Griffin Hospital’s dining room offers a wide selection of hot and cold meals, snacks, and beverages. Our Unidine chefs, dining service and nutrition staff enjoy preparing fresh, healthy food daily for our staff and visitors including made-to-order salads, brick oven specialty pizzas, sauteed chicken, fish, beef and vegetables, pasta dishes, fresh roasted chickens, specialty sandwiches, fresh made desserts and more. Meal Hours
Breakfast: 6:45 AM to 9:45 AM
Lunch: 11:30 PM to 2:00 PM
Dinner: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM -
Guest Trays
Guest trays are available for visitors who wish to dine with a patients in their rooms. A meal must be purchased from the cafeteria cashier by 11 a.m. that day for lunch and by 4 p.m. for dinner. -
Visitor Meals
Visitor meals are served along with patient meals.The dietary department can be reached by dialing (203) 732-7888 (ext. 7888 from inside line).

Vending Machines
Vending machines are located on the Ground Floor, down the hall from the patient registration lobby. The area is open around the clock. -
Coffee and Soda
Coffee and soda are available in our Emergency Department 24 hours a day. -
Kitchens
Fully-equipped eat-in residential kitchens are located on patient floors for patients and their visitors where family members may prepare meals and dine with you. The residential kitchens also are used for cooking demonstrations and nutrition education by the dietary professionals. The kitchen is stocked with beverages and snacks for you and your visitors. Fresh coffee, prepared by our volunteers, is also available. -
Your Diet
Your diet is an important part of your therapy while in the hospital. Your menu is planned to provide nutritious, well-balanced meals while adhering to your physician?s instructions. Please feel free to request items to suit your personal preferences (within dietary restrictions) or ask for assistance from the nutrition staff. If you need assistance reading your menu, someone from the dietary staff can assist you. If your menu is not completed, the nutrition staff will select for you in accordance with your physician’s diet order. If you need assistance during meal times, a family member or friend is welcome to assist you with your meal. -
Nutrition Counseling
Griffin Hospital’s Registered Dietitians provide one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions for a variety of medical conditions, including but not limited to: Diabetes; heart disease; celiac disease; food allergies; and pre-and post-bariatric surgery or individuals just simply looking to improve their health and eat better. The initial appointment is an hour session and follow-ups are a half hour. During the appointment, the dietitian reviews your diet habits and prescribes a personalized nutrition plan that will fit your preferences and lifestyle.Talk with your physician about getting a referral for nutritional consultation and then call Griffin’s Central Scheduling Department at 203-732-7101 to make an appointment. Some medical conditions are covered by insurance plans, so check with your insurance company to confirm coverage details.

Meals From Home & Special Diets
Family members may bring meals from home for their own use or may purchase a guest tray through the hospital cafeteria. If you have special dietary needs, a member of the nutrition staff will visit you within 24 hours of your admission to discuss your meals and develop a nutrition care plan specifically for you. This will include any nutritional concerns while you are here as well as when you go home. If you need to follow a special diet, the dietitian will discuss diet restrictions for you in detail.We are eager to serve you and make your mealtimes as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
