It’s all about community.

As a proud member of the Naugatuck Valley community, Griffin Hospital works in tandem with other community organizations to strengthen our citizens, encourage positive relationships, facilitate ongoing wellness and provide ongoing support to those in needs. Below is a list of the local organizations we sponsor throughout the year.

TEAM, Inc. Senior Meals Program

In partnership with TEAM, Inc, The Senior Meals Options Program (SMOP) provides nutritious evening meals at Griffin Hospital five days a week, Monday through Friday. These meals also serve as a vital opportunity for seniors to connect, reducing the risks of isolation and loneliness. Socialization is an important part of maintaining emotional and mental well-being, and this program fosters community engagement among participants. In addition to the meals, free educational cooking classes and blood pressure screenings are available to support seniors’ overall health and well-being. Learn more at TEAM, Inc.

Relay For Life

The Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital is proud to sponsor and participate in the annual Relay for Life of Naugatuck Valley. Relay For Life is an overnight walk-a-thon that raises funds for the American Cancer Society’s cancer education and research. The Center for Cancer Care sponsors the event’s cancer survivorship activities including the Survivor and Caregiver Celebration, Survivors’ Luncheon and Hope Tent as sign of its commitment to supporting and celebrating survivors in the community. Greater New Haven Heart Walk

Griffin Hospital has been a longtime supporter and sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Greater New Haven Heart Walk. The Heart Walk is a fun family event where participants can walk to celebrate heart health or recommit to taking better care of themselves. Griffin Hospital employees form teams to encourage each other and their families to get active and the hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation patients reconnect at the walk and reaffirm their dedication to lifestyle changes that can prevent future heart issues. Valley United Way Annual Community Campaign

Griffin Hospital employees generously make one-time donations or have sign up for recurring payroll deductions to support the Valley United Way. The United Way works to improve the quality of life for people living and working in the Valley by funding programs and organizations that make a measurable difference and Griffin Hospital is proud to help in this goal. Treasured Time Extra Innings

Griffin Hospital is an inaugural sponsor and participant in Treasured Time’s marathon softball fundraiser. Treasured Time is a grassroots charity that grants the wishes of parents with life-threatening illnesses who want to create a lasting memory with their children. In addition to supporting its fundraisers, the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital works with Treasured Time to nominate patients and families to benefit. Learn more about Treasured Time.

Holiday Wonderland of Trees

The Holiday Wonderland of Trees is a fundraiser at Griffin Hospital where different departments decorate Christmas trees with creative, festive themes in order to fundraise for The Spooner House. The trees are displayed in the main hospital corridor, and everyone is able to vote for their favorite tree by purchasing raffle tickets. Through these contributions, we help Spooner House continue to provide much-needed assistance and quality services to children and families in CT.
